In her spare time, Mady loves playing with her dog outdoors, swimming, walking, jogging, reading, and spending time with family. She said, “The people who work here are very nice and we are a good work family.” When asked to list her job responsibilities, Mady added one they probably didn’t teach in her hygiene program: “tolerating Dr. Smallwood’s bad jokes.”
Brandy - Registered Dental Hygienist
Brandy went into dentistry in 2007, after studying dental assisting at Massanutten Technical Center. She traces her interest in the field to high school, when a dental hygienist spoke very highly about her career. Today, Brandy says, “I love the connections I can make with my patients where they can feel comfortable with me and trust me! I also love being able to help teach people, improve their oral health, and keep their teeth for as long as possible.” Brandy, her husband Danny, and their son are very close and enjoy time together that includes swimming and hiking. Brandy proudly shared that her son has opted to raise money for the homeless instead of having a 7th birthday party!

Our Patients Love us!
I’ve been a regular with Dr. Smallwood since they first came to Harrisonburg some years ago and I can highly recommend them. Where would my teeth be without them?
" - Skip T.I have been going to this practice for ten years. They have always shown kindness, friendliness, and caring. Thank you for taking the time, and your expertise in guiding me to a healthier smile.
" - Jeannie H.I enjoyed every minute of my appointment. Everyone is so nice. They not only deliver superb dental care, they treat the patient as a real human person, not just a mouth. I went home inspired, threw out the peanut brittle, and started to faithfully use my waterpik.
